Moving With Your Pet

Moving can be a very stressful experience for your pets and they need you more than ever while you all resettle. Please don't consider giving them away.

bulletConsult your veterinarian a few weeks before you move to check if your pet may benefit from medication for stress, nervousness and/or car - sickness.
bulletPlan to keep your pets away from the moving activities. This will reduce stress and the likelihood of them slipping outside.
bulletKeep them with their familiar beds, toys, objects etc.
bulletBe sure they all have tags with your NEW address, phone number and emergency contact.
bulletCover the cages of small animals with a lightweight material. It is imperative that the temperature remains constant for them to survive.
bulletIn your new home, try to unpack a familiar room and place beds, food and water in similar locations. Keep pets inside, at least at first, and always walk dogs on leash. Try to keep the old routine and please allow your pets time to settle into their new environment. They may not be themselves for several months, but with patience, love and stability they will adjust to their new home.
